Ram got a butterfly garden for Christmas last year and it has finally stayed warm enough that we ordered the butterflies...er larvae. He got 5 Painted Lady butterfly larvae (caterpillars). He has not named them but he is being very careful with them.
Within a day or so they ate so much there was noticeable growth, they got bigger.
Within 3-4 days they began to form the chrysalis and we left them alone for a couple of days before we moved them to their garden. I was surprised how quick they started to morph in their chrysalis!
It was pretty hard to remove all the stringy stuff so we ended leaving some of it. We were both nervous we didn't want them falling of the paper.
Got them pinned to the side of the net. We have our fingers crossed they will all survive. So in about 5-7 days we should have 5 butterflies and more pictures!!
