I am once again linking to
Small Things yarn along, I've been gone for a while but still continued to knit and read!
Reading:
Sherlock Holmes,by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,
picked this one up to follow the
Storytime monthly mystery sampler I am working on. I don't think I would have ever picked up this book on my own. Volume I is a collection of five books the edition I bought is the Signature Edition from Barnes and Noble, I like the timeline in the beginning of the book which takes you through events from the author's birth in 1859 to the fifth book in this volume
The Hounds of the Baskervilles, 1902. I'm on the first book
A Study in Scarlet where Holmes meets Dr. Watson. So far I think I am going to like this mystery.
Just finished
The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett, I lovvved it! It was an adorable story and I wondered how they were going to do the ending, which is sort of magical. I'm sure most people have read this book but it truly was enjoyable to read about Mary Lennox and Colin Craven and their transformation in the secret garden. The edition I purchased is the Penguin Threads Classics and I love how they captured the backside of embroidery in the inside of the cover. It has a little bit of a lift on the embroidery on the front to give it a more realistic feel.
Last month I read
Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, it was a lot shorter than I thought, also enjoyed reading. I bought the beautiful hardcover pink edition which contains the sequel Through the Looking Glass, plan to read too.
Knitting:
Cast on the second sock of the
Embossed Leaves, so pretty!! I think this time the second one will get worked faster! I do have to say the double tubular cast-on took me
many tries before I could count my number of stitches correctly, this time I followed this
video , The yarn is from
Leading Men Fiber Arts,
Anne's Story colorway, not sure how long they will have it since it was created for the Anne of Green Gables Shawl knit-along, really beautiful
post by Very Shannon.
