herb fest #2

Jenks Herb Fest

This is the second weekend at the herb fest for me and the boys. We were there at the crack of dawn when they opened! [-er 8am, early for me on a weekend]. This one was bigger than last weekend and they had great plants too, lots of bougainvilleas. [Which of course I didn't take any pictures of]. We took a break and had some chocolate croissants...mmmmm.
Ram, loves selfies...haha!

I only got two plants, go figure, but I'm saving my pennies for the others shows.  The large plant Clerodendron Thomsonae is a sort of bleeding heart. It will be a house plant because it will not survive in our climate. The other "desert rose" Adenium Obesum, the tree trunk just won me over, [very bonsai looking] and my little new African basket in purple because L would love it.
After coming home I got inspired to get the garden cleared out, this looks a lot better than it had before. No before shot, it was wayyyy to embarrassing. It was all covered in weeds and grass, still is a little on the right side. Will keep working on it but this will be my before shot... I usually just plant herbs and vegetables but I may add flowers this year. Ram digging a hole in his quest for worms...as long as they are out and getting dirty I don't mind the holes.
Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!

azalea festival

This past weekend we headed out to the Azalea Festival in Muskogee, OK, which runs every weekend in April. Unfortunately because this winter was colder than normal the azaleas have not yet bloomed. The tulips and dogwoods were beautiful. We may try again next month when we head out there for Renaissance Faire and see if they survived. The weather was nice and then it turned cold for the rest of the week. I did manage to make it out to Tulsa for The Brookside Herb Festival, that morning, it's small but they have really great stuff, beautiful succulents. Many of those vendors will be in Jenks for their Herb Fest this coming weekend.
So Sunday, I had to bring the hanging baskets in because we had a freeze warning. The geraniums are looking kind of sad because they were out in the cold for a while, but we did nab some succulents! I got my burros tail [have been wanting one forever!], reminds me of my grandmother's house! I didn't take pictures of them, waiting to get some pretty pots.

yarn along with small things

I'm following Ginny from Small Things blog, she posts weekly about her current book and knitting project, great way to keep my knitting motivated and accountable. Also I love to look at everyone else's stuff. My read is part of a blog book club started by Brittany, The Paper Garden, it's really interesting, I normally don't read biographies, about Mary Granville Pendarves Delany's life and her art of collage way before it was considered a collage. There are some beautiful pictures and they look like paintings instead of collages. My knitting, a scarf for L, of course in purple her favorite color. The basket weave pattern is actually easy, from creativebug. I will probably use fabric on one side because the yarn maybe too itchy for her.

The rose stencil I'm cutting out to make a project from Alabama Stitch book. I've been looking at inspiration, rose, and rooster projects from Alabama Chanin, alot of ohhhh and ahhhhh's and can't wait to make something, probably a t-shirt.

My latest fabric buy from Owl&Drum, it's for my stash. I'm not a cat person but I thought of L and she loved it when I showed them to her. The fabrics in case curiosity strikes, on the right are from Lizzy House Catnip collection. The floral and coral fabrics on the left are Iza Pearl and the green is Heather Bailey. I'm trying to go out of my comfort zone and add a variety.

Happy Wednesday

queen elsa

My little princess has been bugging me about an Elsa dress [Disney's Frozen]. Of course I have been procrastinating, but she was having none of that, because she starting asking what seem to be every hour this weekend. First I tried the Disney store, they were sold out. Drat! So I headed to the fabric store on my lunch hour got fabric and for under $30 she got her dress! I made a huge mistake in the back but managed to cover it up.
She did ask for glass slippers, but that one I told her was beyond me.
Have a great week!

bleeding hearts & ampersand

Land of Ampersand - vertical print

HAPPY FRIDAY!
The weather around here is warming up and my bleeding hearts are starting to bloom! I love them, they are maintenance free and they always surprise me in the spring, can't wait to take more pictures of them later. I just learned something new about our little "&"symbol, the Ampersand. If you go here you can learn more about its origins, it's actually a really short paragraph nothing long.
Have a great weekend,
