testing

These pictures are coming late, they tested back in October. I am so proud of the boys, they were promoted to recommended black belts! They did so awesome they shocked me, they looked so good, so I have to brag about them. Here are some great pictures the photographer took...

spirit

Yesterday's catechism reading made me think about things regarding "poverty of spirit".

"Though he is rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich"
2 Corinthians 8:9

Every year as we head into the holiday season I want to teach my children the meaning of each holiday and enjoy what each has to offer. There are so many material things to buy and I'm torn between simple and extravagant. How much we waste and have compared to other cultures. I would like for the kids and ourselves to enjoy the simple gifts of nature, life and what we have to offer each other from our souls.

I work downtown so I see quite a few homeless people and I'm always unsure when handing money out. I want to help those who need it, but at the same time I don't want to be made a fool by a scam-er. I guess we just have to have faith and give with an open heart.

This holiday season I will make it simpler for our family, and enjoy the meaning of what we celebrate.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven"
Matthew 5:3

Monday, September 9, 2013

This weekend was sort of productive, we got the kids schedule sorted out. Since this was the first week we "implemented" it, such as chores, time management [especially the older ones], extra curricular activities and outdoor time. Unfortunately I didn't get any time to myself. I did manage to doodle on myself while we were visiting my mother-in-law, hehe!

Also, things are starting to break around the house, some things we have been able to fix...car, dryer and some things we are going to have to replace...like the floor steamer. My steamer broke a while back and the floors don't get as clean without it, so I'm shopping for a new one.
I did purchase new fonts, Cantoni, pretty!!! Thanks to besotted blog I subscribe to. Now...learning about web fonts!?!?! Anyone have any information? It would be appreciated. Like I said not much time to myself lately, so it maybe a while before you see it.

Have a great week!

this moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. - Inspired by SouleMama.

inspiration

Pia you inspired me...
Just a little bit actually. I signed the boys and myself to participate in this years Route 66 Marathon! We will be running/walking the 5K...haha! What did you think it was the whole thing! NOT!
Rem was not happy to find out I did that, a little freaked out was more like it, so we talked about it and he is fine now. We have just under 3 months to train, I'm actually excited! Williams who I work for is the main sponsor, yea!
Maybe next year you can do the half marathon with us?!?!?!

stress therapy

I have to admit I have a problem. I'm one of those that shop as therapy. When I get stressed out I go out shopping. Luckily I don't get stressed out that often and I don't spend a lot.  I just buy something, it could be anything small, candy, new pen, or a card ...actually from what I have noticed I think I go shopping to get away, most of it is window shopping. It actually helps me organize my thoughts. I had a very stressful job at one time and it left me with TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint disorder) so now I clench my jaw when I get stressed out, which leads to jaw and head aches. When the pain gets to that point I'm starting to figure out that I am stressed out. Pain killers and a mouth guard help for a time until I can take the stressful situation under control. It's usually too much work and I need to stop and prioritize and same thing at home.
Life just gets too overwhelming at times.
Anyways...I wondered into JoAnn's on my lunch hour and they had the rotary cutter's on sale (40% off, got to love JoAnn's!). I've always wanted an OLFA cutter so I purchased one and the new Crafty magazine. I like this magazine because it reminds me to keep it simple and I love their logo!
Have a great non-stress remainder of this week!
